A Closer Look At OSI Food Solutions

Do you have an interest in food services? Have you ever heard of the food giant OSI Food Solutions? This particular food giant has made a prominent name for itself via great leadership. David McDonald, the president of OSI Group, has worked with the company for over 30 years, and he has spread his knowledge all across the company’s many sectors. McDonald has played a key role in business acquisitions. Under his tutelage, OSI Food Solutions has been able to acquire stake in many of its competitors’ businesses. Back in 2016, OSI took over one of Tyson Foods’ Chicago-based plants. This 200-square-foot facility costed OSI over $7 million, but it was worth every penny. This plant is in very close proximity to many of the company’s other plants.

Back when OSI Food Solutions first started working in food wholesale, it built a facility that catered to beef production. Producing a consumer-driven product was the goal. In 1973, OSI built this phenomenal facility in West Chicago, and it hosted some of the best technologically advanced machinery of its time. Since cryogenics was flourishing during this time, OSI was able to ship its meats to other businesses that were thousands of miles away. Cryogenics was a huge success because its flash-freeze technology kept the meats fresh for longer periods of time. This specific plant has actually supplied McDonald’s with copious amounts of fresh beef.

In addition to working with McDonald’s, OSI Food Solutions has worked with many other top-tier food retailors such as KFC, Yum, Subway, Burger King, Starbucks and Pizza Hut. The company now has over 20,000 employees, and it’s always seeking business-minded individuals to fill its many job openings. Thanks to the company’s dominance in environmental management, it was presented with the Globe of Honor Award by the British Safety Council.
