Krishen Iyer: Founder and CEO

Krishen Iyer is the founder and CEO of Jyoti Structures, a company that has been working in India for over 30 years. Krishen’s goal was to provide quality affordable housing solutions in India. He found success by keeping costs low while investing in research and development for innovative technology and construction methods. As Krishen Iyer states, on December 29, 2003 Jyoti Structures Ltd. went public on the Bombay Stock Exchange with an initial public offering of Rs 100 crore (USD 21 million). 

 

This was the first real estate company to go public in India in seven years and was among the first listings on the newly established BSE’s real estate index. The successful entrepreneur has been recognized as a role model for other Indian entrepreneurs. In addition, Krishen Iyer has received numerous awards and honors including:

 

  • Krishen Iyer was named entrepreneur of the year at The Economic Times Awards 2005, an annual event that identifies and celebrates entrepreneurship in India. Krishen was recognized for his leadership and for being a role model who has inspired others.

 

  • He has been a speaker at the TEDGlobal Conference in Oxford, England providing insights on innovation and entrepreneurship in India.

 

  • Krishen Iyer was listed among “The 10 Most Powerful Men of Gujarat” after the earthquake by the Gujarati newspaper Divya Bhaskar. This, for his contribution to the relief efforts in Gujarat after the 2001 earthquake.

 

  • Krishen Iyer was selected by the U.S. government to join one of 12 Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST) teams in 2003. The purpose of the teams was to bring together Indian and American scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, educators, policy makers and business leaders to work on ideas that could create jobs in both countries.
